INDICATIONS began when I heard about an abandoned mental hospital in Chicago. I photographed the remains of the 8-story state facility. A few months later I began shooting at another hospital, which was closed and soon to be turned into luxury condominiums. The fact that all of these images are in abandoned hospitals is coincidental. I am most interested in the debris, the forgotten material culture, the sheddings of these once-valued institutions.
